Workshop Overview
This engaging workshop introduces you to the timeless art of Petrykivka painting through a fun, unique, and therapeutic hands-on project.
Here’s what to expect:
Introduction – Meet Olena, learn about her extensive background in art and education, and hear how Petrykivka art became her passion.
Overview of Petrykivka Art – Discover the history and symbolism of this UNESCO-recognized Ukrainian folk art and its unique techniques.
Demonstration – Watch a live demonstration of one-stroke painting, where Olena will teach you to create traditional floral elements like leaves and flowers.
Practice – Develop your skills by practicing Petrykivka strokes on paper, creating leaves and floral patterns before moving on to the item where the patterns will be painted.
Painting on item (craft pumpking, egg, wooden board, ornament, paper, canvas, ceramic, fabric, etc.)– Apply what you’ve learned to paint your own masterpiece in Petrykivka style.
Everyone will leave with their one-of-a-kind creation to cherish!
Materials Provided
All supplies are included, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience:
4 sheets of premium-quality color paper for practice
Multi-surface premium acrylic paints (full color palette)
One item of (craft egg, ornament, canvas, 300g. paper, wooden board, etc..) per person (various base colors to choose from)
Dotting tools for fine details
Handmade brushes and round synthetic brushes
Paper towels, Q-tips, pencils, erasers, and water containers

Theme of Workshop: Easter Egg in Petrykivka, Ukrainian Folk Art Style.
With a professional artist and educator Olena Chorna Fine Arts/Petrykivka Artist. Olena Chorna Fine Arts, spearheaded by Olena Chorna, is dedicated to sharing the rich heritage of Petrykivka, Ukrainian decorative painting globally. Specializing in original artwork and immersive workshops, the business offers a range of experiences for individuals of all backgrounds to explore this cherished and unique, UNESCO recognized, Ukrainian Folk Art called Petrykivka. Olena offers art classes, workshops for all ages, corporate clients as well her own original artwork in both Fine Arts and Petrykivka Folk Art Style.
1. Introduction – I am Olena Chorna, will start by introducing myself and sharing a brief history of my experience and education.
2. Overview of Petrykivka Art – I’ll introduce Petrykivka, the UNESCO-recognized Ukrainian folk art style we’ll use for the Easter Egg painting.
3. Demonstration – I’ll demonstrate one-stroke Petrykivka painting, showing how to create traditional strokes for leaves and flowers.
4. Practice – We’ll practice the strokes on paper and create leaf and flower first, and paint floral patterns.
5. Egg Painting – Once we’re comfortable with the technique, we’ll transfer the pattern onto the Easter egg.
Everyone will take their hand-painted Easter Egg home!
